Panakam is a sweet drink originated in South India. The main ingredient of this drink is jaggery. Panakam is specially prepared during Rama Navami as an offering to God. It is also called Panaka or Panagam.
It’s very simple to make Panakam. You need very few commonly available ingredients to prepare this drink at home.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup jaggery
3 glass water
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder
1 teaspoon ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
1 lemon
7-8 Mint leaves
Ice cubes
How to Make Panakam?
- In a big bowl add 1/2 cup jaggery
- Add 1 cup water and melt the jaggery completely while stirring it constantly
- Now add all the ingredients – 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder, 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- Mix it well
- Now add 3 glass water ( Add more if needed and adjust the qty of spices)
- add ice cubes
- add mint leaves
- mix everything well and add 1/2 lemon juice
- Panakam is ready to serve
