Idli is very popular breakfast dish in southern part of India. It’s made with Rice and Urad dal mixture.
Most of the times you find left over idli which you don’t feel like eating again with chutney or sambhar. Don’t worry this perfect dish can save your day. It’s so simple and quick to turn left over idli into healthy snack – Fried Idli. We will Pan fry it using olive oil as it’s considered healthier.
You will need below mentioned ingredients to make idli fry at home. These are commonly used spices.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
(adjust spices as per the idli quantity and your taste preference)
How to make Fried Idli at home?
2. In a pan heat 1 tablespoon oil
3. Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and let it splutter
4. Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
5. Add the idli to the pan and rest of the spices – 1 teaspoon red chilli powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt
6. Mix everything well together
7. Add 2 teaspoon sesame seeds
8. Mix it well with the idli
9. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame and then remove it
10. Fried idli is ready to serve
You can also use curry leaves, Amchoor powder to get a tangy flavour. This is optional.
You can also garnish it with chopped corianders before serving.
This dish can be enjoyed anytime of the day. It’s simple and quick to prepare.
